Pocklington 10km

The summer series started on Tuesday at Pocklington. It is one of my favourite courses of the series – some lovely countryside, a few sharp up hills and some great long relaxing downhills. There was some marvellous running and racing starting with Mark and Mike who fought it out at the front of the field for the men eventually finishing in 5th and 6th place.  Emma Willits, who continues to improve, won the Ladies race in 38 mins. She was hotly pursued round by Dave Lancaster who was the first V50 to finish.

Dave Bannister broke the 40 minute barrier to lead the well packed group of Martin Lawn, Ian S, Paul Lewis across the line.  The Matt duo (Driscoll and Rylett) paired up to finish in 39 and 40th place in 41 minutes.  Richard Gover and Peter Hanson both runnning their first Summer Series look to have had a great race with plenty of changing places during the race.  Howard was next across the line finishing in 46 mins and getting  2nd place in the V60s.  It was good to see Julie Lawn out racing again and she was well rewarded with 4th place in F35 category.

Our web supremo, Graham, who is now back in the UK, finished in exactly 47mins and was closly followed by new member Bex Hedderick who just crept under 48 minutes. She commented that the course was not as flat as she had been led to believe!

Mike Tasker finished in 48 minutes and won the V70 category by over 5 minutes!!!

On the team front, the men finished 2nd and ladies 3rd, which no doubt will improve as the series progresses.

The next race is at Tadcaster on 15 May 2012
