York Acorn/City of York Millennium Bridge Race
Congratulations to all who ran the York Millennium Bridge Races on 14th August. The results are below.
Please send any corrrections (including age group changes) to coyacevent@hotmail.co.uk .
Thank you for all your feedback, and the many thanks and supportive comments that you have sent. Those who went “wrong” have been very
understanding. The original results are still the same, attached. I have marked on those we know went the full route or the “short”
route” in the fast race – not to discredit anyone, just to see if it jogs your memory. I think there were more people who went the full
route. I would be pleased to hear from you so I can add you to the list.
For those who went the short route, I have measured with a wheel and the difference is 100 to 110m – the map I sent before was wrong,
the loop did not go that far. To find what your time is “worth” for your own interest, I suggest multiply your minutes by One and a
Third, and add that number of seconds to your time. So if you ran 20m 20s, a third of 20 is 7, so add 27 seconds. Your time is worth
20m 47s.
I will eventually send in the times for the Slower race, and those we know went under the Bridge in the Fast race, to Power of 10 /
RunBritain. I will use the adjustment I suggested to calculate estimates for new Course Records, All Time lists etc. But I cannot
submit these times to National lists. I know it was very difficult in the Park, because of the number of other users (mostly with
children on bikes, pushchairs etc!) as it was a very nice evening for the Park (if a bit warm for running fast!). It is the problem in
the Park that will cause any changes that we have to make, not the problem with runners going wrong – though if we are still here we
will be even more careful at that point next year. Though we did have an experienced marshall, it was that he left his point to deal
with an injured athlete.
Thank you again for all your supportive comments.
